The Great Barrier Reef

7^th and 8^th grade

  I would introduce the Great Barrier Reef as the topic telling where and what it is.  I would then direct the students to a National Geographic web site that focuses on the Great Barrier Reef.  I would then have the students explore one of the two “online adventures”; either the scavenger hunt or the marine adventure.  I would have them pick a creature they found interesting in the sites and write a short paragraph about it.  Then I would have them discuss what they found and thought was cool and interesting to them.
