Title: Money Management
Topic: Creating a Budget
Grade: 11 or 12
Objective: To let the students get an understanding of how to manage their money to the best of their abilities.
Idea: At this point in their lives the students have a pretty good idea about what they want to be when they grow up. What kind of career they want to have and what type of lifestyle they want to have. Since they will not actually be able to manage their own money, since they do not have jobs or a real income, they will make up what they would like their future to be like. They will pick a job and their income will reflect their income with their partner’s income. They will also pick a house and do research to find out what other expenses they will have including transportation, health insurance, food, etc. They will complete an income and expense statement and this will show them how well they learned to manage their money.
