Title: Adding Fractions with Online Manipulatives

 

Topic: Addition of fractions with like denominators

 

Grade: 2^nd- 3^rd grade

 

Idea: I will first teach my students how to add fractions by using an online manipulative program that allows my students to add fractions with like denominators with lines or with circles. With my students I will use the application of adding fractions with circles so they can have a visual of adding fractions. I may have them work with a partner, depending on their knowledge of fractions. This tool will allow them to add fractions in a different way than usual and will give them the opportunity to add fractions on their own at home.
